Esports production company ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has appointed Georg Brandes as its new Vice President of Media Rights & Distribution.

Brandes announced the move through a LinkedIn post, saying he took on the role on 1 November. He was previously Senior Director of Media Rights and Distribution at the company, a position he held since May 2025. Brandes says he now oversees media rights, distribution and match data for EFG. He wrote that his teams have worked with partners such as KICK, TikTok and Twitch, as well as local media rights partners around the world who show EFG events to fans in their own languages.

Media rights are the legal permissions that let a broadcaster or streaming platform show an event. Distribution is the work of getting that footage in front of viewers. The role also covers match data, meaning live scores and statistics that other companies can license. A person in this job typically negotiates deals with streaming platforms and channels, decides which regions get which partners, and makes sure partners receive the video feeds they have paid for.

His LinkedIn profile shows he joined ESL Gaming, now part of EFG, in October 2017 as Partner Manager Media Rights, selling media rights globally. In October 2020 he became Team Lead Account Management Media Rights, where he worked on setting up a post-sales process and on workflows linking the company’s in-house production with local broadcasts. He became Director of Partner Management Media Rights in February 2022.

Brandes’ appointment follows a series of other hires at the company in recent weeks. In October 2026, ESL FACEIT Group appointed Tiago Paixão as its new Creative Director for the Esports World Cup (EWC) and the Esports Nations Cup (ENC). Around the same time, the company announced two new hires to its brand partnerships team: Lauren Baines and Youssef Hassan, who have both joined as Senior Directors, Global Brand Partnerships.
