South Korea’s video streaming service provider SOOP officially announced on March 25 that it has signed a content partnership with LG Electronics to expand esports event broadcast through LG’s smart TV platform, webOS.

As part of the deal, SOOP will make its esports content available on LG Electronics’ Gaming Portal. The LG Gaming Portal is a platform that lets users access games and content on devices like webOS-based smart TVs, smart monitors, and StandbyMe screens without needing a separate console or PC.

This means viewers will be able to watch major leagues like the League of Legends Champions Korea 2026 and the ASL StarCraft Remastered League directly on their smart TVs. For context, SOOP is the exclusive domestic broadcast partner for both the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) and the StarCraft League.

As a result, for the first time, Korean-language livestreams of these two events have moved exclusively to SOOP and Naver (Chzzk), ending their official availability on YouTube. Through its new partnership with LG Electronics, SOOP now has an additional platform to stream these tournaments.

Cho Byung-ha, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ webOS Platform Business Center, said in a public statement, “We have strengthened the content competitiveness of the gaming portal through cooperation with SOOP. We will provide a differentiated esports viewing experience on Smart TVs.”

Choi Young-woo, CEO of SOOP, said, “This collaboration is a strategic partnership that expands the esports viewing environment into the living room. We will deliver a highly immersive viewing experience by providing a variety of leagues in high quality.”

Along with LCK and ASL StarCraft: Remastered League streams in Korea, SOOP will also handle the Korean broadcast for the 2026 Overwatch Champions Series as the exclusive partner. At the same time, LG Electronics has also been getting more active in esports, with one of the latest being a partnership with MIBR, where the team gets LG’s UltraGear monitors.
