Tournament organiser PGL and esports technology firm Runestone announced extension of their multi-year partnership to include the Dota 2 ecosystem. The agreement establishes Runestone as the Official Data Partner for PGL’s entire circuit of the game through 2029.
This expansion aims to ensure technical consistency across PGL’s tier-one properties, providing data infrastructure to synchronise live broadcasts with game servers and integrating real-time monitoring to detect any competitive irregularities.

The announcement comes ahead of PGL Wallachia Season 8, to be held on 18-26 April, where 16 of the world’s top teams will compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool at PGL Studios in Bucharest. The move to solidify data rights for Dota 2 follows a successful Season 7 in March 2026, which reportedly broke series records with 16 million hours watched. The next scheduled tournament, PGL Wallachia Season 9, is scheduled for September 2026.
By securing Runestone’s infrastructure through the end of the decade, PGL aims to deepen fan engagement through more “immersive, connected experiences” and maintain a transparent competitive environment across its global calendar.
This extension marks another step in a significant expansion and consolidation of data rights for Runestone. In the last few weeks alone, the company has rapidly expanded its footprint through a long-term CS2 renewal with PGL through 2029, data rights for the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, and strategic regional partnerships with SURGE (EMEA) and NODWIN Gaming (Global South).
Runestone was also recently confirmed as the Title Partner for the Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW) 2026, an event co-organised by The Esports Radar and the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC). Taking place this June in Cologne alongside the IEM Cologne Major, the week-long summit will see the company contribute to discussions regarding competitive integrity and the future of data-driven broadcasting in the esports industry.
By covering both Counter-Strike and Dota 2 for PGL, Runestone now powers the data layer for two of the main ecosystems in for one of the main organisers in competitive gaming. Shane Clarke, Managing Director of Runestone, stated that the extension solidifies a “shared vision to push the boundaries of event production,” while PGL CEO Silviu Stroie noted that the collaboration remains central to PGL’s ongoing innovation within the Dota 2 community.
