US based Arizona State University and American/Korean esports organisation Gen.G have announced a new partnership aiming to help young people turn their esports interest into real careers.

The financial terms of this partnership were not publicly disclosed. As part of the agreement, Gen.G will provide real world industry experience to the students, through which they will get direct exposure to how the gaming and esports industry works. This includes practical learning tied to areas such as esports operations, media production, marketing and business.

Gen.G is also co-leading the Gen.G Gaming Career Summer Camp @ASU LA as a part of this deal. Students will participate in four weekly modules which include lessons, guest speakers from the industry and a final project.

Gen.G also explained that its Gen.G Global Academy in Seoul has grown into the largest gaming-focused high school academy in the world. That model will serve as a blueprint for this Arizona State University partnership to help students turn esports interest into education and careers.

Finally, Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G, confirmed that he will join ASU as a Professor of Practice. This will allow Gen.G’s leadership and industry knowledge to be directly integrated into the classroom

Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW) will return in 2026 with a bigger and bolder edition, taking place across 18–21 June in Cologne, Germany, alongside IEM Cologne. The schedule and details about ticket sales are available in this link.

Renée Cheng, Senior Vice Provost and Dean of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, said, “One of the reasons ASU earns our repeated #1 ranking in innovation and #2 in employability is because we identify excellent partners that enrich outcomes for all learners. This ASU-Gen.G collaboration will empower youth to tap into their passion for gaming and build successful and fulfilling careers.”

Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G, stated, “We’ve been working with ASU for some time and believe by combining ASU’s academic muscle with our global expertise within gaming and esports, we have the winning formula to drive the next generation. I’m also excited to share that I will be joining ASU as a Professor of Practice, an opportunity that allows me to further embed Gen.G’s industry expertise into the classroom and directly support students as they prepare for careers in gaming, esports, and technology.”

Besides training young talent in the United States and Seoul, Gen.G is also working to link West African esports talent with the global industry through a new education initiative. The Korean organisation has teamed up with Astra Creatives Ghana LBG to roll out a dedicated programme for Ghanaian professionals and fans who want to grow in the space.
