Danish esports organisation Astralis has officially appointed Morten Bro as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Morten’s appointment comes nearly a year after Astralis’ acquisition by Fusion Esports Group, a group of local investors that took control of the organisation following a period of financial and organisational difficulties. Since the acquisition, Astralis has made several changes to its leadership and operations and Morten’s appointment is part of these changes.
Morten did not explain his responsibilities at Astralis in detail at the announcement post on LinkedIn, so his exact day-to-day role is still unclear. He said his initial focus would be the “Astralis turnaround”, which suggests that Morten will likely focus on making operations more stable and improving the company’s finances.
“Over the years, I have assisted many exceptional clients and talents. The ones who stand out all have one thing in common: a distinct fire in their eyes when speaking about or performing their craft. This exact fire burns intensely in Jonas Gundersen [Founder and CEO of the Fusion Esports Group and CEO of Astralis since September 2025]’s eyes when he speaks about esports, the future of Fusion Esports Group, and its first investment: Astralis,” stated Morten at his announcement post.
Morten also noted some personal fallout from the move. He said he will be stepping down from other positions of trust he currently holds, including his role as a Neutral for the International Games and Esports Tribunal (IGET).
Notably, before this hire, Astralis did not have a publicly listed chief operating officer in its executive structure, so this is a new addition to the organisation’s leadership team rather than a replacement of an existing role. Fusion Esports Group acquired the organisation after the company reported a net loss of roughly $4.8 million for the 2024 financial year, underscoring the scale of the issues facing the organisation ahead of the ownership change.
Since the takeover, Astralis has made further changes to its esports leadership, including appointing Julian Miculcy as Vice President of Esports, with responsibility for its Counter-Strike 2 operations and the Astralis brand.
