G2 Esports has partnered with NORD Esports to form a new League of Legends team, G2 NORD, marking a strategic move to deepen its roots in the German esports scene while counting on an Academy team.

The team will compete in the Prime League, the official DACH EMEA Regional League (ERL), with the stated goals of reconnecting with German fans, becoming the nation’s top team, and providing a structured path to pro for regional talent. The initiative is backed by founding partner LVM Versicherung and will be led by popular German streamer Tolkin as team president.

LVM Versicherung, a German insurance company, is cited as the founding partner of the G2 NORD project. According to the announcement, their involvement is based on a shared commitment to long-term development, high performance, and sustainable growth within the German esports ecosystem.

The partnership, anticipated by Sheep Esports and officially confirmed today, represents a deliberate effort by G2 to strengthen its presence in a key European market. The organisation stated that its rapid global growth had sometimes come at the expense of attention to its core German fanbase. G2 NORD is positioned as a high-performance academy environment, offering players access to G2’s elite coaching and performance resources within the regional league structure.

The move also comes at a transitional moment for the Prime League itself. The German ERL has been facing organisational uncertainty following the insolvency of long-time operator Freaks 4U Gaming in late 2025. While Riot Games has confirmed the Prime League’s continued place within the EMEA Regional League system for 2026, it has yet to publicly announce who will assume responsibility for operating the competition going forward.

“From the very beginning, G2 has always had the ambition to build a truly global organisation,” said Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2. “But along the way, we may not always have given enough love to some of our closest fans, especially in Germany. With initiatives like Kings League Germany and now G2 NORD, we want to change that in a meaningful way.”

For NORD Esports, which has competed in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) since 2023, the alliance provides a significant platform. The organisation has built a reputation for community-focused projects and operational expertise in regional League of Legends.

“With the G2 NORD project, a lifelong dream is becoming reality,” said Michel Klepper, CEO and Co-Founder of NORD Esports. “G2 gives us the incredible opportunity to learn from the most successful team in the West and at the same time Tolkin is the ideal bridge to the community. The German esports scene is one of the biggest and strongest in Europe, but in recent years it has lost some momentum. G2 NORD is its wake-up call.”

The launch follows G2’s 10-year anniversary in 2025, with the organisation stating a focus on building foundations for its next decade. This includes investments in scalable talent development and deeper regional engagement in markets like Germany.
