The LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) 2025 Season concluded on 28 September after nearly six months of competition, establishing itself as one of the most-watched esports events of all time.
Gen.G‘s victory continues its record of reaching the Grand Final of the LoL Champions Korea for eight consecutive appearances. The team’s latest win came after it eliminated its rival, T1, in a Lower Bracket Round 3 match. That particular clash peaked at just over two million concurrent viewers, making it the second LCK split to reach such a figure.
Data from Esports Charts indicates that this peak viewership figure places the LCK 2025 Season behind only the LCK Spring 2024, which holds the series record of over 2.6 million peak viewers. It was noted that T1, the world’s most popular LoL team, featured in all five of the season’s most-watched matches.
The event’s overall viewership, however, set a new benchmark for the league. The season reached 161 million hours watched, setting a new series record and becoming the first LCK split to break the 100 million watched hours barrier. This figure also places the tournament within the top three most-watched esports events of all time, with only the 2021 and 2024 editions of the LoL World Championship exceeding its watch time.
Despite its substantial viewership figures, the LCK was reported earlier this year to be struggling to maintain a healthy financial balance. On 20 April, the league reported accumulated losses of 42.7 billion KRW (~$29.8 million) over the past three years.
