Riot Games has announced details for the 15th anniversary of League of Legends Esports, to be marked at the 2025 World Championship (Worlds 2025) in China. The plans include a redesigned Summoner’s Cup trophy, a new Worlds anthem performed by Chinese artist G.E.M., and a Finals Opening Ceremony featuring multiple international performers.
The Summoner’s Cup returns with a lighter design and a base engraved with the names of the 14 previous Worlds winners. The design, created by VOLPIN, retains the silhouette from the Tiffany & Co. edition. It will be presented during the Finals in Chengdu, with delivery supported by tournament partner Mercedes-Benz.
G.E.M. will perform this year’s anthem, which will debut in October alongside a video featuring highlights from the past 15 years of League of Legends competition. She will also perform at the Finals Opening Ceremony together with Italian electronic musician Anyma. Additional performances will come from Chrissy Costanza and TEYA.
In a press release, Anyma commented: “I’ve been an avid gamer all my life, so headlining Worlds 2025 is a real honour. League of Legends has created universes that inspire millions, and I’m thrilled to bring my sound and touch into their world to push the boundaries of what’s possible through such an impactful medium.”
Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports at Riot Games, said: “What started in small studios with homegrown broadcasts has grown into sold-out arenas and millions watching worldwide. As we mark this milestone, we honour the players, teams, and unforgettable moments that built our sport and shaped the future of competitive gaming.”
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article noted that the Summoner’s Cup silhouette was originally designed by Tiffany & Co. Actually, Tiffany & Co. only designed the 2nd edition of the trophy (though it is correct to say the base carried over from the 2nd edition to the new 3rd edition). This new, 3rd edition was created by VOLPIN. The article was updated on 19 September.
