Sam Hibbert has announced his departure from National Student Esports (NSE) after seven years with the organisation, which was founded in 2017. Hibbert joined the UK’s official body for university esports in its early stages and most recently served as Business Director.
In a post on LinkedIn, Hibbert reflected on his time at NSE, describing the company as “one of the world’s best collegiate and grassroots gaming companies.” He also confirmed that he will begin his next role in the esports industry in a few days.
NSE also shared the news on its own LinkedIn page, calling Hibbert “an integral part” of its success and acknowledging his “massive impact” on the university esports and gaming community.
NSE operates the British University Esports Championship in partnership with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). In the 2024/25 academic year, more than 2,200 teams from 117 universities competed across multiple esports titles. NSE collaborates with publishers including Nintendo, Riot Games, and Ubisoft, and maintains long-term partnerships with Monster Energy, Pringles, and Scan Computers.
