American esports organisation Sentinels, best known for its VALORANT roster, has officially opened a digital store for fans in the Philippines.

However, the way it happened was far from a typical launch. Most esports organisations mark the opening of a new regional store with an official announcement, a press release, or at least a social media post highlighting the launch. Sentinels did none of that. The Philippines store simply appeared online in September, with no formal statement from the organisation.

The store’s existence only became clear after a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a screenshot of the new store account and asked whether it was actually run by Sentinels. Sentinels’ CEO Rob Moore replied with a simple “yes,” confirming the store was official. That short reply is, so far, the only public acknowledgement from the organisation about the expansion.

While Sentinels’ U.S. store operates through its own website, the Philippines version works differently. Instead of a standalone site, fans are directed to a Facebook page called “Sentinels PH Store“. The page posts updates on which merchandise items are currently available, and fans can place orders directly through Facebook Messenger.

It is not yet clear whether Sentinels plans to build a full website for its Philippines store or whether a physical retail location will follow at some point. The organisation has not commented on future plans.

Setting up a store in a specific country is usually a practical move rather than a marketing one. When fans order merchandise from an organisation’s main store abroad, they often end up paying extra costs on top of the item price, such as customs duties and international shipping fees. A local store lets fans in that country buy merchandise without those added charges, since the products are already based in the region.

For now, Sentinels fans in the Philippines have a way to buy official merchandise locally, even if the rollout has been unusually quiet compared with how other organisations typically handle these launches.
