South Korean organisation T1 has announced the contract extension of LeeFakerSang-hyeok until 2029, renewing ties with one of the most influential figures in esports history.

Widely regarded as the greatest League of Legends (LoL) player of all time, Faker has played a pivotal role in shaping the global identity of both the game and the organisation. Now 29 years old, he has been with T1 since 2013, leading the team to five League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) titles and two Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) victories.

Beyond competitive achievements, Faker has grown into a cultural phenomenon and remains a central figure in the esports industry. His presence is seen as a major factor in T1’s standing as one of the most popular esports organisations worldwide, particularly within the League of Legends ecosystem.

The financial terms of the renewal have not been disclosed, though it is known that Faker holds an ownership stake in T1. In a statement on social media, as the renewal announcement was shared both on X and YouTube, T1 described the player as a “symbol of esports beyond League of Legends”.

T1 recently made business headlines with partnership deals involving Saudi tourism developer Red Sea Global and Spotify. As part of the Spotify deal, the brand became the main presenting partner of T1 Home Ground 2025 — a three-day fan festival where Faker’s contract renewal was announced live.
