Zain Iraq has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DHL Express Iraq, aiming to develop logistics solutions for the esports sector in Iraq. The agreement was formalised under the Zain Esports platform, a brand held by the telecommunications company to organise competitions, tournaments, and promote other initiatives to support and develop the local gaming community.

According to the announcement, the deal ensures the provision of end-to-end logistics and promotional support for gaming events, including the transport of equipment, event organisation, joint sponsorships, and community engagement initiatives. Both parties intend to support esports locally and internationally, while also offering exclusive discounts and benefits to participants in Iraq’s gaming community.

Zain Iraq highlighted the partnership as part of its wider strategy to foster digital innovation and empower youth. The company’s CEO, Emery Gorkan, stated that the collaboration with DHL is designed to create “an integrated and stimulating environment that enhances the player experience and opens new horizons for this rapidly growing sector in Iraq and the region.”

Amr Tantawi, Regional Director for Iraq and Emerging Markets at DHL Express, described the deal as more than a commercial agreement, calling it “a common vision to support the digital economy in Iraq, promote innovation and improve customer experience.” Mohammed Farid, DHL Express Iraq’s Director General, further noted that DHL’s local capabilities and expertise will be key to ensuring the partnership’s success.

Zain Iraq’s investments in esports is part of a broader agenda proposed by the company towards youth empowerment and digital transformation. The vision in the long run is aimed at positioning Iraq as a potential regional hub for gaming and digital innovation.
