G2 Esports has expanded its entertainment portfolio with the launch of ‘Red Aura’, an original fantasy-action webcomic series.
The organisation has collaborated with Japanese Art Director Runbel and KISAI Entertainment to develop the new IP, which debuted on 31st October 2025 in Japan on the LINE MANGA platform. According to a press release, the initiative aims to translate the esports organisation’s decade-long legacy into a new narrative format, seeking to connect with a broader, global audience through the fast-growing medium of digital comics.

The series, which will run for over 40 episodes in its first season, represents a significant step for G2 beyond its core competitive gaming roots. ‘Red Aura’ is an entirely new intellectual property that reimagines themes from G2’s own history within a fantasy setting. The story follows a character named Asa in a world of magical nomads, with its narrative arcs drawing inspiration from the organisation’s real-world journey.

The webcomic will be released weekly, with the first five episodes available at launch. While the debut is exclusive to the Japanese LINE MANGA service, an English-language release on the global WEBTOON platform is planned for a later date. This global rollout underscores a strategic push to engage fans across different cultures and entertainment mediums.
Sabrina Ratih, COO of G2, stated, “G2 is at the heart of digital-first entertainment, and with ‘Red Aura’, we’ve created a story that anyone can enjoy, whether they’re an esports fan or not. We see this as the next step in G2’s evolution into an entertainment powerhouse, with a beautifully crafted story inspired by the challenges overcome on our journey.”
The project’s Art Director, Runbel, also commented on the collaboration, saying, “When I first saw this project and the early storyboards, I was reminded of the excitement I felt reading manga as a child, and the dreams and aspirations I had for the future. I could feel the fiery energy of the characters, and I felt I had come across a work that was full of passion and vitality.”
This venture into original IP and storytelling follows a pattern of diversification for the organisation. The launch of ‘Red Aura’ coincides with G2’s 10th anniversary, a period that has also seen the establishment of its media house, 62, and lifestyle collaborations. It also aligns with a wider esports trend of organisations integrating manga/anime elements into their identities through various collaborations, though G2 is reportedly the first team to develop an original IP.
