Organisation Astra Creatives Ghana LBG has officially partnered with the ITTI Sports Institute to launch a dedicated esports scholarship programme for the Ghanaian community. The collaboration will provide an 80% scholarship for the Master in Esports Management and Gaming, a move designed to lower the barrier to entry for West African professionals seeking elite, global industry credentials.
The initiative, spearheaded by Astra’s President Micdad Morgan and ITTI CEO Daniel Pinto Coma, aims to provide Ghanaian residents with training in esports marketing, management, and event operations. According to Morgan, the African esports market historically has faced significant hurdles regarding access to international networks and high-level educational infrastructure. This partnership seeks to formalise a new talent pipeline, transforming Ghana from a spectator into a regional hub for esports professionals.

Regarding the strategy around the scholarship, Morgan stated: “For too long, the African esports community has watched from the sidelines as the global industry booms. Access to top-tier education has been a barrier. Access to global networks has been a barrier. This partnership changes that. By investing in African talent, we are not just opening doors; we are building a new pipeline of diverse voices and skilled professionals who will shape the future of esports worldwide.”
This announcement marks a significant expansion of Astra Creatives Ghana’s recent efforts to connect local talent with global powerhouses. Earlier this year, the organisation announced a partnership with South Korean giants Gen.G to launch the “7-day Esports Adventure Program,” which will take its first cohort of Ghanaian enthusiasts to Seoul in August 2026 for intensive workshops and cultural immersion.
Applications for the ITTI x Astra scholarship are expected to open shortly, with the programme targeting aspiring managers, content creators, and organisers across the country.
While the necessity of esports-specific education is often debated within the wider industry, promoting connections in regions with high breakthrough potential can significantly push the development of a local scene. The African continent has seen a significant surge in professional activity recently; notably, PUBG Mobile made its first large-scale regional push with the PUBG Mobile Africa Cup, secured by Infinix as the official partner and device sponsor.
