Esports organisation G2 has announced the global, English-language launch of its original fantasy-action webcomic, Red Aura, on digital comics platform WEBTOON.
Scheduled to debut on Saturday, 6 June 2026 under the platform’s WEBTOON Originals label, the 42-episode first season aims to expand the organisation’s presence in digital-first media properties. The cross-industry project marks G2’s latest effort to diversify its intellectual property beyond traditional competitive gaming by translating its brand legacy into shonen-inspired digital entertainment.

The series originally debuted in Japan on LINE MANGA in October 2025, where it reached the number nine spot in the platform’s ‘New Series’ category during its opening weekend. For the English launch, the platform will immediately release 20 episodes, consisting of 15 free chapters and five premium Fast Pass chapters, prior to transitioning into a weekly release schedule.
Developed specifically for vertical-scroll formats, the production features collaborations with KISAI Entertainment, the studio behind webcomic adaptations of Avatar: The Last Airbender, alongside Japanese Art Director Runbel.

Regarding the ongoing media expansion, G2 COO Sabrina Ratih stated: “Expanding into original entertainment has been a major focus for G2, and Red Aura is only the beginning of what we want to build.” Runbel added that the creative process involved working alongside the production team to deploy specific camera layouts “to create cool action panels that have never been seen before.”
The digital comic release follows a broader trend of Western esports organisations investing in multimedia assets and targeting the Eastern gaming market. G2 has previously diversified its operations through anime collaborations with Solo Leveling. Simultaneously, French organisation Team Vitality has continued its own Asian expansion by entering Japan, recently launching a domestic Japanese-language X account and signing fighting game player Shoji ‘Fenritti’ Sho to compete under its banner at the Esports World Cup.
The launch of Red Aura also aligns with a wider esports trend of organisations integrating manga/anime elements into their identities through various collaborations, though G2 is reportedly the first team to develop an original IP.
