Gaming hardware provider Corsair has acquired all assets of Melbourne-based simulator cockpit designer Trak Racer to scale its peripherals segment and expand its sim racing portfolio.
The transaction builds directly upon Corsair’s existing Fanatec brand by adding physical cockpits, seats, display mounts, motion systems, and flight simulation gear to establish a turnkey simulation platform within the broader gaming market.
Corsair maintains a long, steady presence in esports as a partner of organisations and events alike. Recent developments include a three-year, seven-figure partnership with FaZe Esports inked in April 2026 to serve as the organisation’s exclusive peripheral provider, and serving as a key hardware partner for the StarLadder Budapest CS2 Major 2025. These moves align with a wider industry trend observed since 2025, where endemic gaming brands have increasingly expanded into simulation and racing hardware to capture growing enthusiast audiences, as detailed in a recent The Esports Radar’s Heat Map analysis.

Trak Racer manufactures entry-level to professional simulator frames, tubular cockpits, and accessories. The acquisition is seen as a complementary hardware fit: while Fanatec specialises in electronic control systems such as wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, and software, Trak Racer focuses on physical frames, haptic platforms, and turn-key rigs.
“This acquisition is a continuation of our strategy to scale our Gamer and Creator Peripherals segment into a much larger addressable market, with attractive margin expansion opportunities,” said Thi La, Chief Executive Officer of Corsair, in a press release. “Trak Racer meaningfully expands Fanatec’s sim racing ecosystem, bringing an extensive SIM cockpit and accessories product portfolio, and a strong direct-to-consumer revenue mix that we believe will scale well across our global distribution network.”

Through the acquisition, Corsair also aims leverage Trak Racer’s licensing arrangements with Mattel (for Hot Wheels and Matchbox products launching in 2027) and Porsche, alongside official motorsport partnerships with the BWT Alpine Formula One Team and Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. As part of the deal, Trak Racer’s Founder Matt Sten has joined Corsair as Chief Technology Officer for SIM Solutions.
“Joining Corsair and Fanatec gives Trak Racer the platform to reach far more SIM enthusiasts faster than we could on our own. Corsair’s global distribution and retail infrastructure, paired with Fanatec’s engineering strength and product portfolio, will let us bring Trak Racer products to a much larger audience while staying true to the community that helped built this brand,” said Sten.
