Web3 platform STIX has announced a new partnership with Korean esports organisation Dplus KIA (DK) for the launch of a fan token program. The initiative aims to leverage community-created memes in a campaign tied to offline events.
The deal will involve a user-generated content (UGC) campaign hosted on STIX, aiming to crowdsource memes related to DK’s League of Legends (LoL) team. The selected winning meme will become the official logo for the fan token, which will be featured on merchandise and by DK players. Participants must hold $STIX tokens to be eligible for rewards, and DK will also hold $STIX as part of a strategic treasury move. Finalists and the winner of the campaign will receive allocations of the DK fan token.
Commenting on the partnership, Alexx [full name undisclosed], Strategic Advisor at STIX, said: “The partnership with Dplus KIA is a truly exciting opportunity for STIX to dive deeper into gaming content – an area we think is ripe for tokenisation. We look forward to working on more ideas with our partners at Dplus KIA, and will be looking to expand our partnerships to more domains and more regions.”
DK is best known for its 2020 LoL World Championship title-winning team. It has also won the LCK (LoL Champions Korea) three times and remains a regular contender at international events. Beyond LoL, DK also fields teams in other titles including PUBG, VALORANT, and Rainbow Six Siege.
STIX is a Web3 extension of Stickerly, a sticker publishing platform that boasts, according to the company, over 400 million lifetime users and around 30 million monthly active users. Past clients of Stickerly include brands such as Coca-Cola and Netflix.
Further updates regarding the official launch of the DK meme competition are expected to be shared via STIX’s official channels. Recent fan token experiences in esports include a robust lunge by Ninjas in Pyjamas, through a partnership with Chiliz and the launch of its platform The Dojo 2.0.
