The International Esports Federation (IESF) has confirmed a total prize pool of $500,000 for the 18th World Esports Championship (WEC26), taking place from 15 to 20 December 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City in Banten, Indonesia.

The event projects over 400 athletes across 160 national teams representing 101 nations, competing across seven distinct tournament categories.

The $500,000 financial allocation will be distributed across seven official competitions: Counter-Strike 2 (Open and Women’s), Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Open and Women’s), PUBG Mobile, and eFootball. Hosted at ICE BSD City, Indonesia’s largest convention venue, the 2026 tournament marks the third time Indonesia has hosted the IESF’s primary championship, following Jakarta in 2016 and Bali in 2022.

The timing of WEC26 fills a gap in the international competitive calendar, stepping in at the void created within the national esports ecosystem when the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC), planned for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was postponed to 2027 due to Middle Eastern geopolitical instability.

The execution of WEC26 reflects a broader administrative turnaround for the global governing body under IESF President Vlad Marinescu. Following Marinescu’s election, the federation claimed to have settled all outstanding operational liabilities accumulated from previous tournament cycles, declaring itself completely debt-free and stabilising its long-term hosting calendar. Parallel to the competitive matches in Banten, Member National Federations will gather for the IESF’s Ordinary General Meeting to address global governance policy and member representation.

In tandem with its financial recovery, the IESF established a new Publisher and Clubs Commission to give game developers and professional esports clubs a direct advisory voice within the federation’s governance framework. Chaired by Kedeng Le, Chairman of Chinese esports entity All Gamers (AG) and Chair of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation’s Club Commission, the body aims to align national federation priorities with professional team calendars and publisher commercial frameworks.
