PUBG Mobile made its first large-scale push into Africa with the PUBG Mobile Africa Cup, backed by Infinix as official partner and device sponsor. The finals were staged in Kenya on 13–14 September, following a wider effort to position the continent more firmly within the global esports circuit.

The event, which featured a $8,000 prize pool, granted direct qualification to the 2025 PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC), creating a rare opportunity for African players to bypass regional limitations and enter the international tier of competition.

For Infinix, the tournament underscores its strategy to align mobile launches with high-profile esports initiatives. The company has designated its new GT 30 Pro as the official device of the Africa Cup, using the competition to highlight its positioning within gaming and youth culture.

“Infinix is committed to empowering growth and advancing the sustainable development of the regional esports landscape,” said Tony Zhao, CEO of Infinix. He described esports as “an integral part of culture and lifestyle for the younger generation.”

The Africa Cup also reflects a wider shift in strategy by publishers and brands, who increasingly view Africa as an emerging growth market for mobile esports. Earlier this year, Mentos partnered with organiser Carry1st for the Call of Duty Mobile Africa Cup.
