Global esports organisation Team Liquid has announced a partnership with sports memorabilia platform MWS (MatchWornShirt) to auction off player jerseys worn during the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026. Net proceeds from the campaign will be donated directly to UNICEF to fund global institutional initiatives focused on children’s education access, digital inclusion, and humanitarian crisis support.

The digital auction circuit is scheduled to begin on July 6, 2026, featuring staggered item drops aligned with Team Liquid’s competitive schedule throughout the summer event in Paris. The inventory will encompass signed jerseys from all participating rosters across the 10 titles Team Liquid has qualified for, including Apex Legends, Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Chess—the latter featuring the jersey of Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen. Additional assets may be added to the auction blocks pending late-stage qualification results for the club’s Counter-Strike 2 and Rainbow Six Siege divisions.

To prevent counterfeiting, each item will be authenticated utilising MWS’s NFC technology, which embeds a smartphone-scannable chip linking to a verified digital certificate of origin.

This is a first step for MWS in esports: “Esports continues to be an emerging area, so it’s incredibly exciting to be entering the space”, said MWS Co-Founder Tijmen Zonderwijk. “The partnership with Team Liquid is a first for us, and one that comes at a time when the world’s eyes are focused on the Esports World Cup. We’re proud to be giving our existing customer base a new sport that they can invest in, with some interesting pieces up for grabs, but also welcoming new fans and collectors into the world of MWS.”

Victor Goossens, Founder and Co-CEO of Team Liquid, also commented: “MWS built something impressive in traditional sports, starting from the Netherlands just like we did. As someone who also follows sport closely, I love that we will be able to bring the same experience to our fans while taking our partnership with UNICEF to a new level.”

The campaign represents the fourth and largest joint activation between Team Liquid and UNICEF since their initial corporate alignment in November 2025. The ongoing relationship previously established the humanitarian aid organisation as a front-of-shirt sponsor within Team Liquid’s EA FC competitive division. In 2026, the team’s community and competitive roster raised $20,264 for UNICEF during their participation at the World of Warcraft Race to World First (RWF).

In 2025, UNICEF also inked an agreement with the EWC organiser itself, the Esports Foundation (EF, former Esports World Cup Foundation), aimed at promoting youth empowerment, community initiatives, and online safety within the esports ecosystem.
