South Korean streaming platform SOOP has kicked off ‘ASL Season 22 presented by Google Play’, its flagship StarCraft: Remastered esports league, with Google Play returning as main sponsor for a fourth consecutive season since Season 19.

The commercial footprint extends for the Grand Finals on October 17, 2026, through a venue partnership taking the event to the ice rink inside Lotte World, Seoul’s landmark theme park. The agreement sees a custom 1,000-seat arena stage constructed inside the amusement park, marking the league’s largest large-scale offline venue activation in several years.

Currently, matches are being held in front of a live audience at Freecup Studio in Seoul. Now in its eleventh year, the league concluded its opening week of Round of 24 matches on Thursday, 20th August.

The renewed partnership reinforces Google Play’s commercial presence within South Korea’s PC and mobile gaming ecosystems, something that has expanded beyond StarCraft esports this year with the company also backing the FC Online Super Champions League (FSL), SOOP’s top-tier EA FC Online competition..

As headline sponsor, Google Play retains primary jersey, broadcast, and venue branding. To convert digital viewership into active user engagement, SOOP and Google Play are running live broadcast “Drops” and Google Play Points incentives for online streams, alongside ticketed on-site fan experiences managed via ticketing partner Ticketlink.

The renewed Google Play sponsorship It follows a string of other long-term partnership commitments from SOOP in recent months which aimes specially at the League of Legends scene, including extending its deal with Gen.G through 2028 and renewing its partnership with BNK FEARX through 2028.
