The Tekken competition at the Esports World Cup 2025 has become the franchise’s most-watched tournament to date.
Esports Charts reported 1.35 million hours watched, almost double last year’s total and the highest figure ever recorded for a Tekken event. Peak viewership reached 89,728 during a second-phase match between Han “Mulgold” Jae-gyun and Atif “ATIF” Ijaz, while the Grand Final ranked third overall, highlighting strong audience engagement across earlier stages of the tournament.
The competition also delivered significant regional growth. South Korean viewership rose by 339% year-on-year, while Japanese audiences increased by 44%. With South Korean players occupying all semifinal and final spots, peak concurrent viewership in the language category jumped 326%.
The record-breaking Tekken figures underline the Esports World Cup’s ability to scale fighting game audiences. Previously, the recently launched Fatal Fury: City of Wolves also drew consistent viewership during the opening week, despite still establishing its competitive presence.
