The Esports Foundation has officially announced that Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora will headline the Opening Ceremony of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 in Paris, France.

Taking place at La Seine Musicale on 8 July 2026, the live musical performance marks the official launch of the tournament’s first edition away of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which will run for seven weeks until 23 August.

The event aims to integrate live-streaming culture and digital communities with a major live entertainment experience, driving interest for the multi-game festival.

The EWC competitive schedule features more than 2,000 players and 200 professional clubs across 25 tournaments in 24 distinct titles. The entire esports structure will operate under a prize pool of more than $75 million as the organisers look to bridge music, gaming, and digital creator spaces.

Following this operational context, Mike McCabe, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at the Esports Foundation, detailed the artistic direction behind the European launch: “The Opening Ceremony is our chance to welcome the world to the Esports World Cup. As we bring EWC 2026 to Paris for the first time, we wanted to celebrate the city through artists who have helped shape music and culture in France today. Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora each represent something different, but together they reflect the creativity and influence that make Paris such a special place to host this event.”

This entertainment strategy directly mirrors the massive scaling efforts established during the event’s inaugural iteration. The selection of prominent French contemporary figures follows last year’s opening ceremony in Riyadh, which featured high-profile sets from Post Malone, Alesso, Duckwrth, Tina Guo, SEVENTEEN’s DINO, and The Word Alive’s Telle Smith.

By incorporating artists who blend Afrobeats, electronic production, and the aesthetics of online creator culture, the tournament looks to cultivate deeper cross-industry engagement with a digitally native demographic that prioritises streaming platforms and community-driven content.
