The IEM Cologne Major 2026, which took place from 2 to 21 June 2026, has broken every principal viewership record in Counter-Strike history.
Data was reported by tracking agency Esports Charts. Culminating in a grand final between Saudi Arabian organisation Team Falcons and Brazilian side FURIA, the tournament set unprecedented all-time benchmarks for peak concurrent users, average audience size, and total watch time.
The competition recorded a Peak Viewers count of 2,754,619 during the final day of the playoffs. This figure establishes the decisive match as the most popular in the discipline’s history, surpassing the concurrent viewership record previously held by the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Furthermore, the event maintained an Average Viewers metric of 627,899 across an Air Time spanning 159 hours and 45 minutes.
Most notably, data compiled by Esports Charts show that the tournament accumulated 100,306,798 Hours Watched, making it the first ever Counter-Strike event to cross the nine-digit milestone and easily breaking the previous record of just over 76 million hours.

The exceptional audience surge highlights the significant global appeal of the tournament’s competitive storylines and a shifting landscape in the game’s international team dynamics. These record-breaking data milestones become even more impressive considering that the tournament divided the attention of fans who traditionally enjoy watching major competitive events.
Running concurrently throughout June, the Counter-Strike showcase had to contend with other prominent international spectacles—specifically the FIFA World Cup and VALORANT Masters London—both of which commanded massive global viewership and threatened to draw attention away from the arena in Germany. Despite facing such strong mainstream and endemic broadcast competition, the Major successfully sustained its historic viewer momentum.
The record-shattering engagement can be credited to the highly publicised narratives leading up to the final stages in Germany. The event marked a prestigious return of Valve‘s flagship Major tournament format to Cologne, featuring high-stakes possibilities such as Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo potentially winning a Major again at the same event after 10 years, alongside the prospect of maiden Major trophies for established players like Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis.
On the other side, led by Finn “karrigan” Andersen, who was chasing his second Major title after several runner-up campaigns and just two months after his high-profile transfer from FaZe Clan, the victory also delivered long-awaited inaugural Major trophies for teammates Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. Team Falcons secured their first-ever Major championship by sweeping FURIA 3:0 in a best-of-five series, controlling the final without dropping a single map.
Ultimately, the grand final was contested between two prominent organisations originating from the Global South: FURIA from Brazil and Team Falcons from Saudi Arabia, cementing a unique geographical milestone for elite Counter-Strike competition.
Data from the Esports Charts shows that Falcons had another top broadcast draw, with their semifinal victory against Team Spirit attracting 2,200,426 peak viewers. A quarter-final matchup between G2 Esports and Team Spirit rounded out the top three highest-viewed games at 2,068,534 peak concurrent users.
