Tokyo-based esports company GANYMEDE Inc., the parent organisation of ZETA DIVISION, has formally launched ZETA GEAR, a proprietary gaming equipment and performance apparel brand.

Debuting at Tokyo Game Show 2026, the hardware initiative marks a strategic transition for the Japanese organisation from traditional apparel licensing towards direct hardware development and physical product manufacturing. Rather than contract white-label consumer electronics suppliers, GANYMEDE has structured ZETA GEAR around joint technical development with industrial manufacturing and athletic apparel firms outside the traditional gaming sector.

The initial four-product hardware portfolio includes mousepads developed alongside automotive polymer specialist Sumitomo Riko and Tokai Rika’s peripheral division ZENAIM, alongside performance arm and finger sleeves engineered by athletic sportswear manufacturer Mizuno Corporation.

GANYMEDE is deploying the brand’s initial inventory at Tokyo Game Show 2026 from 17 to 21 September, utilising its proprietary mobile application to manage pre-orders, venue inventory allocation, and digital queue logistics. The operational setup allows the organisation to maintain direct control over retail distribution channels while establishing proprietary direct-to-consumer sales infrastructure.

The hardware expansion builds upon a broader commercial trajectory for ZETA DIVISION within the Japanese esports market. The launch follows a major sponsorship agreement with Japanese telecommunications operator NTT East, expanding the club’s corporate partner tier. By combining high-profile corporate sponsorship with proprietary hardware production, ZETA DIVISION joins a growing cohort of global esports organisations seeking higher margin commercial models and direct intellectual property monetisation to diversify beyond traditional sponsorship revenue streams.

Notably, also Japanese esports organisation Crazy Raccoon achieved its “sponsor zero” goal after pivoting its revenue model toward owned IP, proprietary events, and diversified business lines.

However, moving directly into hardware through specialised tech partnerships and brand ownership is not exclusive to ZETA DIVISION. Fnatic initially signed a multi-year global hardware partnership with Sony’s INZONE brand in May 2023, a collaboration that evolved in August 2025 when Fnatic officially integrated its proprietary Fnatic Gear hardware line directly into Sony’s INZONE ecosystem.
