Riot Games has unveiled The Phoenix Arms, a temporary, free-entry esports pub located at Hackney Bridge in East London, operating from 19–21 June. Launched to coincide with the finals of VALORANT Masters London, the activation aims to provide a social hub for fans unable to secure tickets for the sold-out matches at the Copper Box Arena.

By adopting the atmosphere of a traditional British matchday pub—complete with team flags, themed memorabilia, and live match screenings—the project seeks to foster communal engagement among followers of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), reflecting the developer’s strategy to integrate its flagship shooter into the broader sporting culture of the city.

The Phoenix Arms will serve as the centrepiece for a wider Fan Fest at Hackney Bridge, which includes live podcasts, creator appearances, and an open-air watch party. Riot Games is managing the promotion independently, confirming there will be no on-site sponsor activations at the pub.

By mirroring the “local pub” culture inherent to British football, Riot Games aims to ensure VALORANT maintains a tangible presence in the host city during its inaugural UK international tournament. The timing of the event places VALORANT Masters alongside a number of prominent events in the sporting calendar that might compete for the audience’s attention, including Wimbledon, the F1 British Grand Prix, the FIFA World Cup, and the Counter-Strike 2 IEM Cologne Major.

Global Esports Industry Week (GEIW) is coming up 18-21 June 2026 alongside IEM Cologne. The main conference days are 18-19 June at Hyatt Regency. See full agenda and ticketing information on site!

London is no stranger to gaming and esports-focused pubs, housing permanent venues, such as XP Tavern, which serve as physical hubs for community gatherings and tournament viewing.

The Phoenix Arms underscores a broader industry movement toward bringing physical, social experiences back to the competitive gaming audience, as explored in a recent The Esports Radar‘s Heat Map column, “Esports Wants the Crowd Back”.
